The Henna tree, Lawsonia inermis is native to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, southern Asia, and northern Australasia. People have ground the foliage of this plant into a powder. When mixed with water, the Henna paste works as a dye for cloth and skin.
Mix the powder with water to produce a paste. Apply this paste to the skin for a temporary red, brown or orange-colored stain. The stain is entirely temporary and can last up to six weeks.
